German & Classical Music

Course description

This German Course is designed for musicians, music students and lay musicians with corresponding skills who wish to combine learning German Language with an excellent professional music program, including a master class. The pre-requisite is the preparation of a piece of music of the participant´s choice.

Schuman, Brahms, Borodin, Reger and Wolfrum- these grand musicians of the past, along with the great poets of the Romantic period, have helped to form and define the cultural image of Heidelberg. Today, Heidelberg is an international " city of festivals". The Heidelberg Spring, the Schwetzinger Festival or the Rheingau Festival are among the largest in Europe. The Philharmonic Orchestra of the city of Heidelberg offers a lively concert and opera scene of the highest standard, under the direction of the international musical director Cornelius Meister. The musical year in Heidelberg is rounded off by the "Chamber Music Festival" which is held twice a year and where professors and students of the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim are very involved.
