Arrival & Departure

All course participants are responsible for their own travel arrangements. Students should arrive on Sundays before courses start and depart on Saturdays after the last day of course. We are happy to provide answers to any questions you may have, and will provide all necessary information. Click here for: City map.

Heidelberg is centrally located and easy to reach by plane, train or car:

Arrival by plane:

Frankfurt International Airport the closest airport, about one hour away by car, train, or shuttle.

The most comfortable way to get to Heidelberg is to book airport shuttle with us: € 37 one-way, round-trip € 74. We are happy to arrange your transfer from Frankfurt International Airport to Heidelberg.

Alternatively you can take the train from the airport to Heidelberg main train station: Deutsche Bahn: € 20 - 25 one-way, or the Lufthansa Bus: € 23 one-way, € 42 round-trip.

Frankfurt-Hahn (Ryan Air) about 2 1/2 hours to Heidelberg by bus. Take the bus: Hahn-Express: € 20 one-way, € 36 round-trip.

Baden-Airpark (Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden; Ryan Air) about 1 1/2 hours to Heidelberg by bus. Take the bus: Baden-Airpark-Express: € 20 one-way, € 36 round-trip.

Stuttgart Airport about 1 1/2 - 2 hours to Heidelberg by train: Deutsche Bahn: € 30 - 40 one-way.

    Arrival by train:

    German railway: Deutsche Bahn. Get off at Heidelberg main train station Hauptbahnhof. If you want to go:

    From the train station to the student residence:

    Take the back exit at the train station (next to the tracks 7/8), turn left and follow the path (passing Deutsche Post/DHL) until you arrive at traffic lights. Cross the street Czernyring, after 20 m turn right on Zollhofgarten. The student residence Campus Viva is at Zollhofgarten 8 (8-10 minutes)

    From the train station to the school:

    Take tram R 5 (direction: Weinheim) to our tram stop Blumenthalstrasse (10-15 min). Get off and cross the garden directly facing you. Turn left on Handschuhsheimer Landstrasse, then right on Hainsbachweg. The school is on the corner of Hainsbachweg/Bergstrasse (2 min).

    From the train station to your host family:

    Please check yourself in advance. You will receive your housing information about 3 weeks ahead of your course begin.

    Public transportation in Heidelberg:

    Heidelberg has a very well-developed public transportation system which includes: train, S-Bahn, trams & busses, as well as bike paths. The closest airport is Frankfurt International Airport, about one hour away by car, train, or shuttle.

    To reach us from the Heidelberg train station (Hauptbahnhof): Take tram R 5 (direction: Weinheim) to our tram stop Blumenthalstrasse (10-15 min). Get off and cross the garden directly facing you. Turn left on Handschuhsheimer Landstrasse, then right on Hainsbachweg. The school is on the corner of Hainsbachweg/Bergstrasse (2 min). 

    From Bismarck Platz (main public transportation hub) take either R 5 (direction: Weinheim) or No.23 (direction Handschuhsheim-Nord) to tram stop "Blumnenhalstr" (5 min). Get off and cross the garden directly facing you. Turn left on Handschuhsheimer Landstrasse, then right on Hainsbachweg. The school is on the corner of Hainsbachweg/Bergstrasse (2 min).

    Departure

    Departure is typically the Saturday after your course ends. Please discuss departure time with your host family; or with the person in charge in the student residence.
